Many outdoor people agree that a softshell jacket is one of the most versatile items of outdoor clothing you can buy. Casual, serious or intermittent outdoor sports enthusiast or even a dog walker, you’ll truly enjoy the advantages of such a flexible item of clothing, of which the Twister is quite a bargain (RRP £80).

Trail Magazine, one of the leading outdoor magazines independently highlights the qualities of the Berghaus Twister softshell jacket as quoted on the Berghaus website:
“The Twister provides the basic requirements of a soft shell jacket at a great price, and that is why it wins the ‘Best Value’ award.
The fabric is very water- and wind-resistant. It keeps most of the wind out but also allows a good level of breathability, making this a fine alternative to a less breathable but more waterproof hard shell.
Inside you get a brushed fleece lining for a little extra warmth and comfort too. The design is pretty simple, as you’d expect at this price, with just two large chest pockets; but at least these can be accessed while wearing a rucksack belt when hill-walking or scrambling.
There is a draught-exclusion drawcord at the collar, and an internal mesh pocket. So the essential features are there and the price is good, making this ideal for hill-walkers and scramblers in need of a soft shell who don‘t want to break the bank.
But at 628g the Twister is relatively heavy for what you get, considering there is no hood. The cuffs don’t have Velcro adjusters either. The fit feels a little stiff compared to the lighter and stretchier materials used on other jackets. Others are more water- and wind-resistant too.”

Until now I have been a huge fan of The North Face, but since I bought the Twister from Berghaus I definitly changed to Berghaus, I just have the feeling that they are better build offering better quality.
